What Is a Sinus Lift?
A sinus lift (sinus augmentation) is a bone grafting procedure for the upper jaw. The maxillary sinuses are air-filled spaces above your upper back teeth. When these sinuses are too large or the bone has shrunk after tooth loss, there may not be enough bone to place implants.
During a sinus lift, the sinus membrane is gently lifted upward and bone graft material is placed in the space created, increasing bone height for secure implant placement.
